Poetry: Worldly Wise

In youth we rave

and shout in protest at life

and the world at large,

and reject all that we can not

and will not accept.

But growing older

and a smidgen wiser,

though groaning and grumbling,

we accept what cannot be altered

and manage, eventually,

to live in serenity and peace.

Well…

            at least…

                       more or less.
